CNM Partners

  • The Center for Microanalysis of Materials (CMM) at the Frederick Seitz Materials Research Laboratory, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is a partner DOE-funded national user facility. Qualified users can access the CMM through the existing CMM proposal mechanism in cases where this would benefit research in a CNM early-access proposal. Through this channel, materials researchers can access 30 major instruments in the areas of electron microscopy, scanning probes, X-ray diffraction, and back-scattering spectroscopies. Of special interest is a comprehensive suite of surface analysis techniques, including dynamic and static secondary ion mass spectrometry, X-ray and photoelectron spectroscopies, and scanning Auger spectroscopy. Many of the CMM instruments are equipped with in situ science capabilities.
